FLESH EATERS LIVE ON AIR, DECEMBER 1982

I guess if you asked I'd tell you my favorite all-time band is probably THE FLESH EATERS. I never saw the 1978-83 version live myself, I'm afraid - it was a couple years later that I got wise to their majesty, and it's been two decades-plus since that time & I still think no band has ever touched them for personification of sheer all-out, fire & brimstone raw power. The number of "rarities" out there from them are fairly few & far between (thankfully), since three of their four LPs have made it to CD in the intervening years. Still MIA is the masterpiece "Forever Came Today" LP and a couple of odds & ends. One thing I own & treasure is a live December 1982 radio show the band did not long after the release of that album on KPFK-FM in Los Angeles. The 15-song set features songs from all four of their albums, including the "Hard Road To Follow" LP that hadn't come out yet. The band are in total howling metal/punk/teeth-gnashing rare form on this particular evening, and man o man how I wish I could've seen them. I reckon this is as close as we'll get - here are three whoppers from that night for your listening pleasure.

Any chance the full set makes it to dime?

Just nuts - thanks for these. A Hard Road To Follow, indeed.

I was too young to catch em in their prime, too - though I did see Chris & STONE BY STONE play what must've been one of their only live gigs - at Raji's in Hollywood, '89. All 10 of us present thought it was really great. Less hair, more paunch fr sure - but still totally great.

Thanks Jay! Awesome tracks. Tantalizing glimpse of the "classic" Flesheaters lineup. Somebody really should release this in its entirety! Has the Flesheaters reissue campaign run out of steam? I hope not!

Damn. This is good. Way better sound quality than the Live Homestead record, the only less than stella Flesh Eaters release. Good work.

thanks Mike

Someone oughta shoot an email to Andrea 'Enthal to see if she still has (or ever had) possession of the masters, since it was her radio show that they performed on. (I presume that she's more interested in her Edsel car club activities these days, but you never know...)

If anyone needs a copy of Forever Came Today on LP & you happen to live in Northern California, I just stumbled across 2 copies at The Beat records in Sacramento for pretty cheap. I bought one of course (psyched!) but I bet the other copy will sit in their rare vinyl section (near the front of the store) forever. It's $12.

I saw that line up a few times and have actually asked Chris about re-releasing it and his respone was there was too much red tape involved, and to get everyone signed on for it was to hard.
